How I learned Power BI and where I am today

I’ve been using Power BI extensively in my daily work in the energy construction sector since 2019. It’s an incredibly powerful tool that has proven invaluable for both my team and the people I report to.

Power BI

When I first started working in Thailand, I was introduced to Power BI through the client in the project I was working in. The client were requesting source data for their own BI analysis, but as we don’t share raw data, I became curious on how to solve this challenge. After learning about Power BI’s capabilities, in fact by the client showing what they intended to do with our data, I realized learning Power Bi could be a solution for providing insights without compromising data security.

I quickly developed my first Power BI reports and successfully shared them with the client. This proved to be a valuable strategy, leading to the creation of over 60 dashboards and reports for both internal and external use for that project.

Since then, I’ve created over 850 weekly and daily Power BI dashboards and reports across various disciplines within eight EPC projects:

  • Management Dashboards and Reports
  • Benchmarking Dashboards and Reports
  • Cost Dashboards and Reports
  • Engineering Dashboards and Reports
  • Procurement Dashboards and Reports
  • Document Control Reports
  • Project Overviews Dashboards and Reports
  • Milestone Timelines and Reports
  • Structural Dashboards and Reports
  • Arcitectural Dashboards and Reports
  • EIT RDashboards and Reports (Electrical, Instrument and Telecom)
  • HVAC Dashboards and Reports
  • Surface Protection Dashboards and Reports
  • Safety Dashboards and Reports
  • Piping Dashboards and Reports
  • Testing Reports
  • Mechanical Dashboards and Reports
  • System Completion Dashboards and Reports

In addition to my practical experience, I’ve also trained several individuals in Thailand and Norway to become proficient Power BI developers. Today, I confidently consider myself an expert Power BI developer and trainer.
