According to a Forbes article published recently, a new hybrid Lexus LFA is rumoured to be nearing production. In contrast to the now-discontinued LFA10, this upcoming model promises to be a formidable super-coupe that will make a significant impact.
Currently referred to unofficially as the “LFA II” within automotive circles, the new two-seater supercar will not utilize the 4.0-liter V8 engine initially seen in the GR GT3 concept—recently spotted in camouflage at Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps and Japan’s Fuji Speedway. Instead, it will feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with Toyota’s renowned hybrid system.
The new LFA is expected to deliver an astonishing 900 horsepower, combining approximately 720 horsepower from the gasoline V8 engine with an additional 180 horsepower from the multi-stage hybrid system. This configuration will be paired with a front-mid engine layout, a rear transaxle, and rear-wheel drive.

For reference the latest production LFA has the 4.8-liter 1LR-GUE V10 engine, as utilized in the Lexus LFA, delivers an impressive output of 412 kilowatts (560 PS; 553 hp) and 480 newton-metres (350 lb-ft) of torque. This power enabled the LFA to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in just 3.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). The vLFA10 was constructed with 65 percent carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, and it featured a range of lightweight materials, including aluminum, titanium, and magnesium. Production of the LFA concluded on December 17, 2012, marking exactly two years since it began. The LFA has garnered accolades such as Road & Track’s “Best of the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show” and Top Gear’s “5 Greatest Supercars of the Year.”
